No more resolutions...

Are you one of those people who make a New Year’s Resolution only to quit after just a few weeks? Then check out these 8 Fitness Tips to ensure that this is the last year that you ever need to make a “resolution” to get in shape…

1. Do not model your exercise routine on someone else’s.

Build your exercise routine around YOUR schedule, and YOUR life. Find what works for you, whatever that is.

2. Lift weights AND do cardio - but do lift more weights.

Minute per minute, you will get a greater return on your time investment from lifting weights than just cardio exercise alone. Cardio exercise is invaluable for your health and longevity, but lifting weights will keep you strong, mobile and elevate your metabolism. So do both but lift more.

3. Start every day with protein and water.

Consuming protein is vital for building metabolically active muscle and keeping you satiated for longer. Staying hydrated is vital for your health and well-being, but many people still do not do enough of either…do not let that be you!

4. Have a salad at least once per day.

Replace just ONE meal per day with a salad to receive these benefits -

- a natural source of fibre

- rich in antioxidants/polyphenols

- can aid in lowering blood pressure

- reduce risk of heart disease

- low in calories so aiding in weight reduction

5. It MUST be deeper than just how you look.

Over the years I have helped hundreds of people transform their bodies and the one thing that they all have in common is a desire that extends far beyond just looking better. Yes, you are allowed to want to change your body, but to truly be successful then you must have a deep desire to change.

6. Have someone hold you accountable.

You will quit on yourself before you quit on someone else. Get a friend, family member or a trainer on board to hold you accountable. Getting in shape is not easy so stop trying to go it alone.

7. Set daily habits.

One of the best ways to be successful at transforming your body is to begin re-setting your daily habits. Try setting one new habit per week, start by adding that daily salad to your diet, then the following week begin increasing your water intake.

8. One week at a time.

Break your goal down into weekly benchmarks. If your goal is to lose 20kgs, break it down into manageable chunks, and aim for 1kg per week.
